Event Summary
Designed for PSMS stakeholders at every level, this course helps you quickly understand what’s changed in the 2nd Edition of API RP 1173 and why it matters to your organization. Rather than reading the standard line-by-line, you’ll get a clear, practical overview of how the updated recommended practice is structured and how it impacts leadership decisions, compliance efforts, engineering practices, and day-to-day PSMS implementation.
Participants will explore the key updates from the original 2015 version, including a high-level comparison of the PSMS element requirements, the purpose and value of the newly added annexes, and how Safety Culture is now fully embedded across all ten PSMS elements. The course also clarifies how assurance activities—such as quality control, quality assurance, audits, and evaluations—have been consolidated under the Safety Assurance element, helping organizations better align oversight, accountability, and continuous improvement.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a shared understanding of the revised API RP 1173 framework and be better prepared to support, communicate, and apply PSMS expectations across your organization.
Attendees will receive 2 Professional Development Hours (PDH) upon completion.
