CO2 Compression – Evaluation of Technologies for CCUS

Virtual, Instructor-Led

Event Overview

This webinar will review the primary compressor technologies for CCUS applications, including fundamentals, operating principles, how CO2 mixtures affect compressor design, and considerations in selection. The technologies to be reviewed include reciprocating compressors, single-shaft/between-bearings centrifugal compressors, and integrally geared compressors.

Attendees will receive 2 Professional Development Hours (PDH) upon completion.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the working principle behind each compressor concept and potential design changes for pure CO2 and CO2 mixtures.
  • Evaluating the different compression routes and ads/disads for each, visualized on a Pressure/enthalpy diagram.
  • Determine requirements for compressor packages for CCUS applications.
  • What to include in a specification for compressor package, including turndown, gas cooling, material selection and performance testing.
  • Ways to integrate a CO2 capture process with a CCUS compressor package.
