This is Part 3 of a 4-part executive series for natural gas leaders: From Operational Excellence to Market Leadership.
Event Summary
Natural gas organizations are being asked to manage increasing complexity while facing a tightening market for experienced talent.
As experienced professionals retire and workloads continue to grow, leaders are evaluating how data, automation, and artificial intelligence can help employees work more efficiently and focus their expertise on higher-value decisions.
Technology alone, however, does not create operational scalability.
Successful automation depends on reliable data, clearly defined processes, appropriate governance, and a strong understanding of where technology can—and cannot—create meaningful business value.
This session provides leaders with a practical framework for evaluating intelligent automation opportunities within natural gas operations. Participants will examine how centralized and trusted data supports scalable operations, where automation may reduce repetitive manual effort, and why governance and process discipline are essential to successful AI initiatives.
Industry examples may include forecasting, imbalance management, predictive maintenance, exception management, workflow automation, and operational decision support. Examples will be examined from a technology-neutral perspective to help participants evaluate applicability within their own organizations.
Attendees will receive 1 Professional Development Hour (PDH) upon completion.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Assess organizational readiness for intelligent automation and AI-enabled processes.
- Explain the relationship between data quality, governance, standardized workflows, and successful automation.
- Identify operational activities that may be appropriate candidates for automation.
- Evaluate potential AI and automation use cases based on business value, risk, complexity, and organizational readiness.
- Distinguish between tasks appropriate for automation and activities requiring human expertise, oversight, or judgment.
- Develop initial priorities for using technology to increase organizational capacity without proportionally increasing headcount.
